This Winter Solstice we would love to have you come and join us for a Cacao Ceremony at Yoga Loka honoring this potent day.  Winter solstice is a point during the wheel of the year where we get to listen, receive and honor the teachings that happen from going inward.  We get to honor the dark and the coming of the light.  We get to honor that rest is required to be able to make sure our inner soil is ready for our seeds we plant in spring.

For this ceremony we will be sitting with and drinking Sacred Cacao. Medicine of the heart, grandmother medicine,  Cacao is an ancient food, medicine and plant spirit that has been carefully stewarded for over 5000 years from South America and throughout Mexico, Guatemala and other areas of the world.  Abuelita Cacao, Theobroma Cacao , food of the gods, is a traditional plant medicine that is still a part of Maya practices to this day.

Cacao is a non psychoactive plant medicine which means you don’t have any hallucinations, auditory changes etc.   Sitting with Cacao is like experiencing a deep meditation and softening that supports coming back into the heartspace and body.   It is also a time to align with any intentions and prayers you want to bring into your life and the collective.

Cacao and the elixir we will be drinking comes from the seed of the Cacao Pod which most people relate to chocolate.   But ceremonial grade cacao is different because it goes through a process that makes sure it keeps all of its physical and medicinal benefits.  This process is done by families that have been carrying this knowledge for centuries.  Ceremonial grade cacao is different from dark chocolate or any chocolate bar you will buy in a store.  Ceremonial grade Cacao carries body, mind and soul benefits which we will discuss more during the circle.

What to Expect:
  • A mindful cacao ritual to honor this sacred plant and its spirit
  • Time to set personal and collective intentions
  • Guided meditation, light breathwork, and journaling
  • Songs, sharing, and integration
Preparation:
  • Eat lightly in the morning and avoid heavy meals or caffeine 2 hours beforehand.
  • Bring water, a journal, and an eye covering.
  • Wear comfortable clothing.
Important Notes:
If you’re on heart medications, SSRIs, or antidepressants, please consult your doctor before participating. Feel free to reach out with any questions—we are here to support you in this process.

We look forward to sharing this beautiful, heart-centered practice with you.
